It is a fantastic list, filled with excellent reads that will broaden and inspire you as a software developer -- or software entrepreneur.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003C\u002Fli>\n\u003Cli>\n\u003Cp>I would be remiss if I didn't mention my favorite technical book title of all time: \u003Ca href=\"http:\u002F\u002Fwww.amazon.com\u002Fdp\u002F0060008768\u002F?tag=codinghorror-20\">The Difference Between God and Larry Ellison: God Doesn't Think He's Larry Ellison\u003C\u002Fa>.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003C\u002Fli>\n\u003Cli>\n\u003Cp>It's not a book, exactly, but I highly recommend \u003Ca href=\"http:\u002F\u002Fwww.amazon.com\u002Fdp\u002FB00005N5QV\u002F?tag=codinghorror-20\">the 2001 documentary Startup.com\u003C\u002Fa> which provides a sometimes disturbing look into the hysteria at the height of the original dot-com era.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003C\u002Fli>\n\u003Cli>\n\u003Cp>If you only read one book from this list, make it \u003Ca href=\"http:\u002F\u002Fwww.amazon.com\u002Fdp\u002F0932633439\u002F?tag=codinghorror-20\">Peopleware: Productive Projects and Teams\u003C\u002Fa>. I was disturbed to find out from Joel that there is \u003Ca href=\"http:\u002F\u002Fwww.pbs.org\u002Fcringely\u002Fabout\u002F\">more than one\u003C\u002Fa> Robert X. Cringely these days.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003C\u002Fli>\n\u003Cli>\n\u003Cp>You own a copy of \u003Ca href=\"http:\u002F\u002Fwww.amazon.com\u002Fdp\u002F0671027034\u002F?tag=codinghorror-20\">How to Win Friends &amp; Influence People\u003C\u002Fa> -- right? If not, why not? This is not a sleazy, ugly book like \u003Ca href=\"http:\u002F\u002Fwww.amazon.com\u002Fdp\u002F0060554738\u002F?tag=codinghorror-20\">The Game\u003C\u002Fa>.
