Podcast #105: The Wait is Over! Developer Survey 2017 results are in.
There are only a few things that you need to know about today’s episode:
- Joel is away so Jay has taken over the podcast using Stack Overflow’s new patented JoelBots™ technology.
- We are joined by data scientists Dr. Julia Silge and Dr. Dave Robinson to talk about some of the most interesting and fun questions from this year’s Developer Survey. Over 64,000 developers responded to questions like “What languages would you like to stop using?” and “What fictional programmer is the most annoying/realistic/inspirational?” (And why is the answer to all three “Mr. Robot”?)
- Apparently I was the only person in a room chock full -o- nerds that has seen the masterpiece that is Kung Fury. If you have also not seen it, do yourself a favor and click that link.
This week’s constitution question: Pro or Con – When you say that you are going to “table” a topic, does that mean that you are going to talk about it now, or that you are not going to talk about it at all? Answer PRO if you think that it means to discuss it now, or CON if it means that you are not going to talk about it.
Post your answer to twitter using the hashtag #StackOverflowPodcast, with either PRO or CON and your explanation (in this case, keep it short but blonde, just like Jay!). The best explanation, whether on the winning or losing side, will be read on next week’s podcast and win a fabulous Stack Overflow sticker courtesy of the Stack Overflow Podcast.
Last week’s winner:
PRO Be always careful we must, but only a Sith deals with absolutes. Also easier to read it becomes. #stackoverflowpodcast

It would be nice if once it’s been viewed, it would stop taking up all that room at the top of my page on SO…
There is a hidden “dismiss” link in the upper right to get rid of it.
Many thanks! Missed that.
Why do you have the ‘Listen on Google Play Music’ button pointing out to the Google play’s principal page in your https://stackoverflow.blog/podcasts/ page? am I missing something?
Are you kidding me ? There are people in the development world who hasn’t seen Kung Fury yet ?
I know, right? I was floored…
Thanks. Great podcast! More Joel Bots!
