Get actionable steps to grow your knowledge base

We’ve made enhancements to For You, our personalized feed of notifications, to help users keep up with new knowledge and manage tasks more effectively.

The amount of new information that is created, shared, and consumed in the digital world on a daily basis is unfathomable. Knowledge is being shared at all moments of the day.  According to Statista and the World Economic Forum, there are 5.7 million Google searches conducted, 148,000 messages sent on Slack, and more than 500 hours of content uploaded to YouTube every minute.

Similarly, organizational knowledge is shared within Stack Overflow for Teams around the clock. The knowledge hub provides teammates persistent knowledge regardless of when and where they access the knowledge base. Stack Overflow for Teams enables asynchronous knowledge sharing, a common requirement for organizations as they’ve embraced distributed and/or hybrid working environments.

It can be challenging to keep up with new or updated ideas and insights shared organization-wide, and this is part of the reason why we created For You. For You is a personalized feed in which users are notified when the content they created or share an interest in has been updated. It helps to create optimal transparency in knowledge sharing.

We’re eager to share that we’ve made enhancements to the feed to help users more effectively manage updates and tasks:

Users can now get up to speed quickly by viewing only unread notifications or filtering notifications by type including new or updated knowledge versus a request that requires their attention.

(Filter your feed to view only unread notifications)
(Filter your feed to view a specific type of notification)

Users can save time by marking all notifications as “read” within a single click.

(Mark all notification as read)

We help users manage their time more effectively by setting reminders to complete tasks at a later time/date. This can be done by snoozing a notification by a predefined number of hours or days. Through these personalizations, users can tailor their workflow so that the sharing and learning of knowledge fit into their schedule in a frictionless way. This helps users stay more focused and on track.

(Snooze a notification for a later time)

Or by customizing when to be reminded of notifications by choosing a specific time and date for a friendly reminder.

(Set a custom time & date for your reminder)

These new capabilities within For You help our users prioritize their activities and tasks within the knowledge base more effectively. Through in-product personalizations, users can find a method for managing notifications that work best for them and their working style while ensuring the critical knowledge base remains accurate and up-to-date over time.

Agility starts with trust

Top of mind for nearly every leader right now is hiring. Depending on what job board you look at, there are between 100,000 and 300,000 technical roles currently open. It’s an incredibly competitive market for top talent, and when teams are hiring quickly, one of the biggest business risks is agility. Teams can only innovate…
