Since many students don’t get exposure to coding very early, having Stack Overflow partner with schools to introduce them to coding could be a great way to get students excited about getting involved. Creating educational content geared specifically to students—such as games, puzzles, or contests—would help them get their first taste of coding and of Stack Overflow. Harvey’s team also suggested expanding our existing gamification system so students can get rewards for earning reputation, such as gift cards, swag, or other prizes. By partnering with schools on an expanded reputation system, we could introduce students to the larger developer community and create a fun way to incentivize student activity on the site.\u003C/p>\n\u003C!-- /wp:paragraph -->\n\n\u003C!-- wp:image -->\n\u003Cfigure class=\"wp-block-image\">\u003Cimg src=\"https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/9W4VbkSSNJe8CrVgUMCX7TC_xmr8lBYR3JMBgLcos0nlS5Rwe-reQIkiD8C97JJk7ABMzj5Wv2PMYseckepMjnKKgdOFJD85gWxnQmqsvO04t8rQ_e32d4ra8DpBUwrgABb1yD_U\" alt=\"Why aren't more people contributing to Stack Overflow? For us at Stack Overflow, we learned so much about what motivates students to become a part of our community and we’re so excited to see what comes next for all of the students we were able to work with as they explore future careers in technology. \u003C/p>\n\u003C!-- /wp:paragraph -->","html","2020-09-30T16:00:10.000Z",{"current":171},"the-loop-september-2020-summer-bridge-to-tech-for-kids",[173,181,185,190,195,200],{"_createdAt":174,"_id":175,"_rev":176,"_type":177,"_updatedAt":174,"slug":178,"title":180},"2023-05-23T16:43:21Z","wp-tagcat-community","9HpbCsT2tq0xwozQfkc4ih","blogTag",{"current":179},"community","Community",{"_createdAt":174,"_id":182,"_rev":176,"_type":177,"_updatedAt":174,"slug":183,"title":184},"wp-tagcat-outreach",{"current":184},"outreach",{"_createdAt":174,"_id":186,"_rev":176,"_type":177,"_updatedAt":174,"slug":187,"title":189},"wp-tagcat-summer-programs",{"current":188},"summer-programs","summer programs",{"_createdAt":174,"_id":191,"_rev":176,"_type":177,"_updatedAt":174,"slug":192,"title":194},"wp-tagcat-tech-for-kids",{"current":193},"tech-for-kids","tech for kids",{"_createdAt":174,"_id":196,"_rev":176,"_type":177,"_updatedAt":174,"slug":197,"title":199},"wp-tagcat-the-loop",{"current":198},"the-loop","The Loop",{"_createdAt":174,"_id":196,"_rev":176,"_type":177,"_updatedAt":174,"slug":201,"title":199},{"current":198},"The Loop-September 2020: Summer Bridge to tech for kids",[204,210,216,222],{"_id":205,"publishedAt":206,"slug":207,"sponsored":12,"title":209},"f0807820-02d7-4fc5-845f-3d76514b81c0","2025-08-11T16:00:00.000Z",{"_type":10,"current":208},"renewing-chat-on-stack-overflow","Renewing Chat on Stack Overflow ",{"_id":211,"publishedAt":212,"slug":213,"sponsored":12,"title":215},"e33464c4-b21b-4019-8b86-64a46335a95e","2025-08-07T16:00:00.000Z",{"_type":10,"current":214},"a-new-worst-coder-has-entered-the-chat-vibe-coding-without-code-knowledge","A new worst coder has entered the chat: vibe coding without code knowledge",{"_id":217,"publishedAt":218,"slug":219,"sponsored":12,"title":221},"8b04b236-51d5-4747-9de8-2fe6e6a2512e","2025-08-04T16:00:00.000Z",{"_type":10,"current":220},"cross-pollination-as-a-strategic-advantage-for-forward-thinking-organizations","Cross-pollination as a strategic advantage for forward-thinking organizations",{"_id":223,"publishedAt":224,"slug":225,"sponsored":12,"title":227},"5bddfa7a-32ce-4f9b-9919-10f03a9ef39b","2025-07-31T16:00:00.000Z",{"_type":10,"current":226},"do-ai-coding-tools-help-with-imposter-syndrome-or-make-it-worse","Do AI coding tools help with imposter syndrome or make it worse?",{"count":229,"lastTimestamp":230},2,"2023-05-25T09:47:25Z",["Reactive",232],{"$sarticleModal":165},["Set"],["ShallowReactive",235],{"sanity-3XA06uVacbNG1vIMSIIxUFWFBBJbyFfxT38m1I6rblM":-1,"sanity-comment-wp-post-16702-1755251983816":-1},"/2020/09/30/the-loop-september-2020-summer-bridge-to-tech-for-kids/?cb=1"]
