Every great product evolves—and sometimes the most important changes happen behind the scenes. Our August release, Stack Overflow for Teams 2025.6, focuses on critical back-end improvements that enhance stability, data integrity, and identity management. These upgrades set the stage for new features and functionality coming soon.
Building a stronger identity foundation
This release enhances our SAML and SCIM integrations by adding support for more user attributes, including first and last names. That means smoother onboarding and better alignment with enterprise identity systems, helping Teams work seamlessly with the tools and providers you already use.
Keeping your data clean and consistent
Data accuracy matters, especially when it comes to reporting. With 2025.6, email address changes are now automatically synced across all database fields for customers who receive data exports. This behind-the-scenes fix improves historical accuracy and reporting reliability without any manual intervention.
Small changes, big impact
You’ll also notice a subtle terminology update: “API Service Keys” is now “API Service Application” in the UI and documentation. This small shift makes it easier for admins and developers to understand and manage integrations.
Coming soon: What we’re building next
Read on for a glimpse at what’s coming to Stack Overflow for Teams. These key features on our roadmap will further transform how knowledge is captured, shared, and applied across your organization.
Keep in mind that these features are currently in development and do not have committed release dates. We’ll share more as they near availability!
Commenting improvements
We’re bringing richer, more structured conversations to Teams with the launch of nested comments on answers. Users will be able to reply directly to specific comments, making it easier to clarify questions, follow solution threads, and engage in contextual discussions. A refreshed UI will enhance the overall commenting experience, with better visibility for upvotes, replies, and active conversations.
Knowledge Ingestion Engine
Turn institutional knowledge into action. Our upcoming ingestion engine will make it easier to convert valuable content from platforms like SharePoint, Confluence, Google Drive, and Slack into structured, reusable knowledge within Teams. Features include:
- Trust indicators to prioritize relevant content
- Human-in-the-loop workflows for editing and verification
- Automatic seeding with attribution and tagging
Say goodbye to silos and hello to scalable expertise.
MCP Server: AI-ready knowledge, right where you work
The Model Context Protocol (MCP) server will bring Stack Overflow for Teams into the AI workflow. With structured read/write access, you’ll be able to surface verified knowledge in tools like IDEs, coding copilots, and developer agents. Expect:
- Support for AI-assisted contributions, including draft suggestions and SME routing
- Robust governance and audit trails
- A secure, scalable path to keep knowledge fresh and accessible—without leaving your flow
