Dave Cross has been writing Perl since the last millennium and writing about Perl for almost as long. He's the author of "Data Munging with Perl" and "Perl Taster" and a co-author of "Perl Template Toolkit". He's been heavily involved in the Perl community too - having founded the London Perl Mongers in 1998. He's a regular speaker at Perl conferences.
