Podcast 223: Embrace the Darkness
Digging deep on dark mode with our design systems lead, Aaron Shekey.
Earlier this week, we introduced dark mode on Stack Overflow. For this episode we chat with Aaron Shekey, our design systems lead, about how he built this new feature and why it took so darn long.
You can check out more about Aaron at his website. He is a designer, developer, and musician who worked at Github and Adobe prior to joining Stack.
You can also read Aaron’s post on how he built dark mode here. For the next 48 hours, you also have the option to try out our April Fool’s gag, Ultra Dark Mode.

Instead, it’s customary and needed to ” not go gentle into that dark night “, but yet, well i admit it has another way to be looked at.
Programmers have been always assimilated as pipeline workers who spend their days in the dark to lead people into the light, it has been always working so since the wooden log dayz.
So it’s less “Do not go gentle into that dark night” and more “We work in the dark to serve the light” or “We die in the dark so that you may live in the light”.
Great pod. Don’t normally listen to these, but if you keep it up, at this level, I’ll be continuing. Thanks again.
I love it
I love it but there are some issues that I see when I make any update or edits on the website.
